EL COMITE
EL COMITÉ
This collective brings together six of the most brilliant Cuban musicians of their generation. Together, these masters draw inspiration from both Caribbean tradition and modern jazz to delight us with music with an incandescent groove. Proof of this is their first album released in 2019: "Y Qué!? So What?!" A true all-star!
Rolando Luna (piano) Rodney Barreto (batterie) Yaroldy Abreu (percussions) Gaston Joya (basse) Carlos Sarduy (Trompette, bugle) Irving Acao (sax tenor et soprano)
El Comité, long live the Cuban groove!
Considered a true all-star of Cuban musicians of their generation, El Comité brings together 6 real gems.
Starting with the pianist Rolando Luna, winner of the Montreux solo piano competition but above all an exceptional pianist with a very solid personal career.
The formidable rhythm section composed of Gaston Joya on bass/double bass and Rodney Barreto on drums, always true to its reputation, carries the groove of El Comité to different shores with precision and talent. Yaroldy Abreu Robles, considered one of the great international talents of percussion of all types, positions himself as the third essential pillar of this insane rhythm section.
Finally, the wind section is of the same caliber as their 5 companions. Carlos Sarduy Dimet, who, despite his young age, has already accompanied the greatest (Chucho Valdés, Los Van Van, Esperanza Spalding, Buika, Richard Bona, Ojos de Brujo ...) and has played on the biggest international stages. His eclecticism, virtuosity and inventiveness carry you away every time, always maintaining his Cuban roots.
And finally, Irving Acao, tenor, alto and baritone sax, also has a very solid career behind him and proves it in each of his performances by constantly adapting to very different universes.
Although each of them pursues their solo careers and participates in different projects, El Comité maintains this astonishing freshness, inventiveness and cohesion in each of their releases.
